Now, I am not an expert in this topic at all. I am not a Muslim, I grew up in (more or less) Christian Germany and now live in (more or less) atheist China. But I can read. And that is what I did.
So, here is a saying by the Prophet Mohammed.
“Seeking knowledge is mandatory for every Muslim.”
Wait, maybe there is some subsequent clause that states that “every Muslim” does not include women? I searched, but that is not the case.
Here is another saying:
“If a daughter is born to a person and he brings her up treats her in the arts of life, I shall myself stand between him and the hell fire”.
Now, “the arts of life” is an interesting way of describing education, but I guess that is what is meant here, right? And generally, having somebody stand between you and hell fire should be a good thing.
The (in my opinion, rather obnoxious) popstar Sting once sang about how the Russians love their children too. One would hope that this also applies to Afghans and their daughters.
